It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the pretty Rupa Manjari is having a blast in the forests of Kerala.

Yes, the actress is currently busy facing the arc lights for her first Malayalam film, Tournament, by actor-director Lal. "We have been shooting incessantly for the last 24 days and 60 percent of the shoot is already over. In this film, I play a wildlife photographer who meets a bunch of guys who have been selected for a cricket tournament. I soon become their friend and fall in love with one of the guys. Who finally actually makes it for the match forms the crux of the story. There is a lot of drama, suspense, comedy and fun in the film," begins the actress.

Rupa is also quite keyed up that she got the opportunity to work with some of the industry's best in her maiden Malayalam venture. "One fine day, director Lal called me and asked if I would be interested in doing a Malayalam film. He narrated the plot of Tournament in a single line and I was instantly impressed. I had always thought that if I'm doing a film in another language, it has to be a biggie! And as far as Malayalam is concerned, with Lal sir wielding the megaphone and Venu sir cranking the camera, I couldn't have asked for more. I never felt like a stranger in the unit. All of them made me extremely comfortable and I felt at home throughout the shoot."

So, did she learn the techniques to handle a camera? "Not really! Though I play a photographer in the film, I do not really have many scenes where I have to actually shoot. So, I didn't have to undergo a lot of strain. But I would love to learn the camera nuances," effuses Rupa.

And what's happening with Naan, her second project in Tamil? "The shoot is almost complete. I'm really glad I took up this role as it's different from my bubbly girl image in my debut vehicle Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru that was directed by J S Nandhini. Vijay Antony has done a great job in the film and I'm really looking forward to the project. There's still 15 days of shoot left in the film and we're planning to release it for Pongal."

Now that she has made her debut in God's Own Country, will she be experimenting in other languages as well? "Though I'm quite kicked about working in different languages, I must say that Tamil will always remain my first priority," she signs off with a smile.
