COMMERCE -- Knowing all but where its latest playoff run would start, Celina prepared for the postseason at Commerce's expense on Friday.

Daniel Mendoza caught two touchdowns and ran for another as Celina defeated Commerce, 58-0, to secure the outright District 10-3A title.

Celina (10-0, 4-0), which had already clinched the district's Division I postseason berth, will face Sanger on Friday at Denton's C.H. Collins Athletic Complex at 7:30 p.m. in the Class 3A Division I bi-district playoffs.

Commerce (4-6, 1-3) managed only minus-19 yards of offense, enduring six sacks by Celina which turned one into a safety.

Jamarick Simmons and Jose Romero each ran for two touchdowns and Jacob Stephenson threw a pair for Celina, which had 426 yards of offense.

Stephenson passed for 167 yards, connecting six times with Mendoza for 119 yards. Simmons also rushed for 103.

The defense set the tone early, as Celina recording sacks on four of Commerce's five snaps for minus-24 yards.

Celina led 21-0 after one quarter, getting touchdowns runs of six, 28 and 14 yards, respectively, via Mendoza, Simmons and Romero.

The lead rose to 30-0 for Celina after two minutes of the second quarter. An 18-yard sack scored a safety, before Mendoza caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Stephenson.

Mendoza then added a 3-yard scoring reception and Romero had a late 1-yard touchdown run, as Celina led 44-0 at halftime.

In the third, Simmons had a 25-yard touchdown run, Anthony Garcia added a 1-yard score and Jesus Vargas hit his eighth extra point to complete the scoring.
